Two years ago, Seng Wong and his wife turned their passion for authentic Malaysian cooking into a reality by opening Mingala, a restaurant rooted in tradition and love. For them, Mingala is more than a business—it’s their way of sharing the rich, vibrant flavors of Malaysia with the Newark community.

A Commitment to Authenticity
Hailing from Malaysia, Seng grew up surrounded by the bold aromas and sizzling sounds of his family’s kitchen. Having lived in the U.S. for over a decade, he carried with him the values instilled by his homeland: that great food starts with the freshest ingredients and is made with care and patience. Seng and his wife craft every curry sauce from scratch—no shortcuts, no compromises. From hand-picking the finest ingredients to carefully blending spices, their dedication ensures each dish bursts with flavor and authenticity.
